Mrs. Hafers 2018-2019
Announcing our favorite month of the year!!! March MATHNESS
Each year, the 5th and 6th grade Math CREATE students provide a month of math fun during March. March does have Pi Day so we've devised all sorts of fun activities to celebrate all things mathematical! Join us!
Daily Math Fun Facts
Weekly Contest Questions
Family Math Carnival
Pi Digits Contest
The 5th graders are busy working on their Daily Math Fun Facts AND the weekly contest questions which we will feature on our March MATHness website each week. Check it out and encourage your student to try all our puzzles that our students designed. The classroom with the highest percentage of participation (not correct answers - we want to encourage people to try) will win the Pi Plate!
The 6th graders design, plan and host the Family Math Carnival, an annual event where they share their love of math and hopefully introduce others to its fun and beauty. We also feature some international games celebrating our multi-cultural theme. Come join us:
Roosevelt - Tuesday, March 5th 6:30-8:00
Cherry Hill - Thursday, March 7th, 6:30-8:00
If memorizing is your thing, come participate in this fun, quirky contest that students all over the country also participate in - the Pi Digits Contest. This math "holiday" has been around for years - thought up by some mathematicians who designated March 14th (3/14) as in 3.14 to elevate the fun and study of mathematics. There are plenty of things to do on Pi Day, but challenge yourself to see how many digits of Pi you can remember!
Roosevelt - Tuesday, March 12th during all recess periods
Cherry Hill - Wednesday, March 12th during all recess periods.

Fun math activities outside of school - Check out MoMath in NYC!
MoMath is the National Museum of Mathematics, located right in our own backyard in NYC. They constantly offer exciting events like book clubs, guest lecturers and fun for the whole family. We are planning to take our 6th grade Math CREATE students there again this spring. For more information, check out their website.
